The Japanese carmaker is in a process of a renewal of its complete lineup. Of course, this includes segment of sports cars as well. According to the latest reports, a new version of its, currently, the only sports car will come completely redesigned soon, as 2020 Subaru BRZ Turbo. You can easily notice this “Turbo” addition to its original name, which clearly indicates that the new model will feature turbo engine, instead of the current naturally-aspirated unit. Besides a new engine, we are about to see all other kinds of different novelties, including a completely new styling, interior design and much more.
- Significantly more power than
- Excellent AWD system
- Improved interior quality
- Tight rear seats
- Small cargo area
The new generation of this sports car is about to bring lots of novelties. Of course, the first thing to comes to our minds is Subaru’s cooperation with Toyota. As you probably know, the current model shares a lot with Toyota 86. It is expected that two models will be closely related once again. However, it looks like the new 2020 Subaru BRZ Turbo will feature a more distinctive styling. The current model features only minor differences, while the new one will come with its own styling philosophy. Still, don’t count on bigger changes in terms of the overall layout, except the fact that Subaru will provide its famous AWD system which guarantees superior handling.
At this point, a big question mark stands behind the 2020 Subaru BRZ Turbo interior. We can’t tell anything more specific at the moment but could make some predictions. We have no doubt that the new version will continue with a familiar 2+2 coupe layout. Still, we hope for a little bit more upscale interior, with nicer materials and more standard equipment. In terms of the dashboard design, we count on a typical driver-oriented approach. Rear seats will probably be tight, but that’s a weak point even in much bigger competitors like Ford Mustang or Chevy Camaro.
This should be the most important change for the 2020 Subaru BRZ Turbo redesign. The current model features pretty impressive riding characteristics but the overall impression is that it needs more power. Therefore, the new model will come with the company’s new 2.4-liter turbo inline-four, which is good for about 260 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque, which is significantly more power than the current 200 hp and 150 lb-ft of torque. Given the enormous increase in power, we expect nothing less than spectacular performances.

The new generation will definitely come soon, though we are still waiting to hear something from officials about it. When it comes to the price, the base 2020 Subaru BRZ Turbo should go somewhere around $27,000.
