2020 Ford Explorer finally comes as improved and redesigned model, for the first time changed from 2011 when the first version was shown. Even though fans have waited for change this long, Explorer was one of the best-sold vehicles in the class all these years. The changes were made in technology, engines, and design, even though the model remained recognizable design and shape of the chassis.
The first change in 2020 Ford Explorer is a new platform. Now it is the same as on Lincoln Navigator. That also means new design closer to Lincoln models. However, the popular and recognizable squared look of the car is almost the same, providing the large interior space and cargo space, too. The front end has the recognizable shape of the Ford models, with large gridded grille and almost flat shape. The rear end is also simple, with a spoiler on the rear window and large rear lights. The sides of the truck have few curved lines as a decoration and large metallic protection on the bottom of the car.
Inside, 2020 Ford Explorer comes with numerous futuristic equipment and additions. The most attractive in the model is high-tech equipment that comes as standard. By now, the only vehicles that had adaptive cruise control as standard equipment was Toyota Corolla. From now, another one will be Explorer. Besides that, there is CoPilot Ford’s safety package, driving assistant and many more things. There is improved Sync system like in other Fords and backup camera. When it comes to the design, the cabin is made of light grey leather in higher trims and has great details in chrome.
There are few engine options in new 2020 Ford Explorer. The base model should remain 2.3-liter petrol engine, but most likely 3.5-liter V6 will disappear. There are chances that they will add the 2.7-liter V6 model along with other that produces 335 horsepower of strength. Changes in engine mean changes in transmission, so this time it will be the ten-speed automatic transmission, instead of current six-speed one. Besides that, the vehicle comes as a rear-wheel driving system, with the optional all-wheel driving system as well.
2020 Ford Explorer Release Date and Price
According to all changes and differences, 2020 Ford Explorer is expectedly more expensive than the old model, but not too much above the old price. It is expected that the base model will be around $30,000 while the higher trim could cost around $60,000. The sporty trim version could be around $50,000, which is more than Dodge Durango ST, but almost in the same line with Ford Edge ST.
