When Sergio Marchionne announced that they will make the new 2020 Chrysler Pacifica, this time as a crossover, many fans recalled the old Pacifica and its minivan design. It is interesting that Marchionne was the manager who changed the first crossover Pacifica to a minivan, claiming that it is much more practical and attractive, to return it to its main usage today. However, this is a way to follow the competition and high market demands, changing the attractive but a little boring minivan that nobody wanted at the same time. It is a perfect moment for that since the competition already invested in new three-row crossovers and changed the main usage of them, while Chrysler still has redesigned 200 and 300 and nothing else.
At first glance, the 2020 Chrysler Pacifica looks like other models in the class, with no many unique details. There is almost the same shape as the flat rear door like on Toyota Sienna, but without addition on the rear window. The front end is short as on Sienna but has prettier decoration and a little-narrowed position of the lights. In that way, it looks more like the 2020 Honda Odyssey. However, the roof is flat as before, offering more space inside, with also flat sides of the car and simple doors.
The cabin in 2020 Chrysler Pacifica has not been showed yet, so we can only predict some novelties there. So far we know that the cabin is much wider and more comfortable than before and the manufacturer promised larger cargo space. Other things will be known later.
All information we have by now say that 2020 Chrysler Pacifica will get a new PHEV plug-in hybrid engine, but nobody confirmed that information yet, or said which type of that engine will be used. As we know, for now, it is hard to adopt a large but lightweight machine as Pacifica to PHEV hybrid and manufacturers has not used plug-in hybrids in luxury crossovers much before. Maybe the first in that class was Mitsubishi Outlander, but Pacifica should use even better and more economical engine than Mitsubishi. So, we only can wait to see how that is resolved.
2020 Chrysler Pacifica Release Date and Price
2020 Chrysler Pacifica is surely good refreshment after the long years of standing behind all changes that happened in crossover’s class, and surely a great move forward for the manufacturer. For possible future buyers sounds good that Pacifica costs around $27,000 without equipment, which is way below the competition with more than $30,000 for base models. Releasing is expected later next year.
