The 2020 Buick Lacrosse is about to receive a facelift. The third generation of this mid-size sedan is about to receive a fine number of novelties, despite the fact it’s been around for only three years. We are about to see a typical facelift, which will bring a plethora of aesthetical upgrades.
On the other side, the mechanical aspect of this sedan should remain unchanged. Still, this facelift isn’t the biggest novelty for the next year. The North American version of this sedan has been discontinued a month ago, so the 2020 Buick Lacrosse will be available in China only.
- Efficient engines
- Spacious cabin
- Lots of standard equipment
- Quiet ride
- Small cargo area
- Some rivals feel more upscale on the inside
The upcoming mid-cycle update will be mostly about visual changes. The new model is about to come with all those modifications that are typical for these types of updates. So, the first thing that comes to mind is front fascia, which is about to come completely new.
Furthermore, we count on revisions on the grille and front bumper, which is about to come with sharper lines, new fog lights and new air intakes. The other end of the car won’t suffer that much, though we still count on a couple of subtle changes. When it comes to the mechanics, things should remain pretty much the same.
The interior design probably won’t feature such major changes. We probably don’t see any bigger modification on the dashboard, which features quite an attractive shape and good overall quality. The Chinese version features premium-looking cabin and that’s no wonder at all, since one of the key competitors is VW Passat, with its premium-like interior layout.
The upcoming update will bring new color schemes, but we count on more standard equipment as well. Of course, this particularly refers to the latest gadgetry and other tech goodies, as well as on advanced safety features.
We don’t expect to see changes under the hood of 2020 Buick Lacrosse. Therefore, base models should carry on with a familiar 1.5-liter turbo-four, which is good for about 170 hp and 185 lb-ft of torque. Higher trims are equipped with a bigger 2.0-liter unit, which comes directly from Cadillac and delivers around 250 hp and 295 pound-feet of torque.
When it comes to the transmission, the smaller 1.5-liter unit comes with a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox, while the bigger 2.0-liter engine comes coupled with a new 9-speed automatic gearbox. A hybrid version based on a 1.8-liter gasoline engine is in the offer as well.
2020 Buick Lacrosse Release Date and Price
The 2020 Buick Lacrosse should hit the Chinese market sometime late in the year, with the starting price of around 35.000 dollars.
