The German carmaker has been preparing another member that will undergo some redesign and appear as a 2019 model. The well-known three-row crossover, known as the Volkswagen Atlas, has been relatively new model in the market so the fans should not be expecting any drastic or significant changes, not even under the hood.
The 2019 Volkswagen Atlas is going to make its appearance in the market as a rugged three-row crossover with big dimensions and some minor refreshments. Its exterior styling has been mostly compared to the Honda models. Also, the new Atlas will be a serious and much more affordable rival to the Touareg, but it will definitely not be its replacement. When it comes to platform of the new Atlas, it has been said that this model will be based on the MBQ architecture. This crossover has also been considered a competition to models such as the Dodge Durango, Toyota Highlander and Honda Pilot. Besides its redesigned LED headlights, other updates have not been confirmed yet and we expect more information soon.
When it comes to interior of the 2019 Volkswagen Atlas, we can say that most of the improvements and updates will happen exactly inside. Of course, what you get will depend on the trim and equipment package you choose, but we are sure that you will not be disappointed. Due to its large dimensions, the new Atlas provides very spacious and comfortable cabin. It will include three rows of seats where even the third row will be pretty much comfortable for two adult passengers. The cloth seats are expected to come as standard, but higher trims will get full-leather upholstery. They will also offer a digital cockpit and even the base model will get a 6.5-inch touch-screen display and the infotainment system with numerous next-generation options. Some of them include cruise control, dual-zone climate control, Android Auto and Apple Car Play. The driver will also get a three-spoke steering wheel and lots of safety systems and driver assist features will be included as well.
When it comes to engine that the 2019 Volkswagen Atlas will be using under its hood, the base model will probably come with a standard 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder. Such an engine is expected to deliver 235 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. The optional engine includes a 3.6-liter V6 that produces 276 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. The engine of the new Atlas will be mated to the same eight-speed automatic transmission.
