Revealing of the 2019 Subaru Outback shows manufacturer’s aims to improve SUV class with modernized models, even though that was not that obvious after so many sports models that Subaru improved in past few years, like WRX STI and Legacy. Outback is not a classical SUV, it is more a wagon, and all improvement and changes in design have gone in that way, to make this car larger and robust. We were able to see completely redesign of the car last year, so this time it is only slightly improved model.
As we said, 2019 Subaru Outback is not much changed this year, because last year model was completely redesigned. It is important to say that model from the last year got many curved lines and decoration, together with the large LED lights and much longer wheelbase. It is now more robust and rough, while redesigned bumpers allow driving even on rough terrain. The front end has a massive gridded grille with curved hood and large lights, and being longer points at the wagon-like style that manufacturer obviously wanted to achieve. The rear end is short and curved, with large rear lights, little smaller than new Jeep Grand Cherokee.
Inside 2019 Subaru Outback has very interesting and attractive designed cabin, with much more additions in order to provide passenger’s comfort and enjoyment. Thanks to the large leathered seats and adjustable functions, long traveling will be even more comfortable. The extremely large dashboard has an impressive 6.5-inch touchscreen in the middle of it, with important commands below it. Along with the leather on the seats come woody and chromatic details. In terms of technology, there are the best things in the class, like Bluetooth, power windows and locks, alloy wheels and silver-painted interior trim, is more comfortable than 2019 Honda CRV.
The engines in 2019 Subaru Outback are the same as on last year model, so we should expect 2.5-liter four-in-line with 175 horsepower and 174 pound-feet of torque. Another engine option is reserved for two versions in higher trims, Limited and Touring, and that is stronger 3.6-liter flat-six model with 256 horsepower and 247 pound-feet of torque. This engine is capable of towing at least 2,700 pounds. When it comes to the fuel economy, it is worthy of mentioning that first engine option has 25/32 mpg while the other one has 20/27 mpg. Biggest competitor engine wise is 2019 RAV4.
