According to some recent information and the spy photos we have got, it seems that the 2019 Jeep Gladiator, based on the well-known Wrangler model, has been on its way to hit the roads soon. This pickup truck will represent quite refreshment in the market with its redesign in terms of exterior, interior as well as under the hood.
The recent spy photos reveal a completely camouflaged prototype caught during its testing session. Although it has been difficult to see all the exterior details the 2019 Jeep Gladiator will show, we have somehow managed to notice the most obvious ones. The new Gladiator will hit the market as a four-door mid-size pickup truck. It will probably be available in this Crew Cab configuration only. When it comes to platform and most of the bodywork, these will be shared with the next-generation Wrangler. It can be said that these two models will be identical, apart from some minor differences in details. For instance, the spare tire on the new Gladiator will be repositioned, so you will now find it under the bed, as it has been the case with trucks. This off-road SUV will also share the suspension system with the previously mentioned Wrangler. However, the Gladiator will still undergo some minor changes and improvements in terms of styling. You will notice its seven-slat grille, the front bumper that has been more pronounced as well as its rounded headlights that will be using the LED technology. Under the front bumper, you will find the towing hooks.
Since the spy photos barely let us notice the exterior features, it has been even harder to know what’s happening inside the cabin. Obviously, the 2019 Jeep Gladiator should also receive some upgrades in terms of interior, including materials and high-tech features. It has been said that the new Gladiator will perfectly accommodate two adult passengers while the second row of seats could be offered, but probably not for seating. The driver should probably expect a touch-screen display with the infotainment and entertainment system as well as an upgraded design of the dashboard.
There will be more than one engine option offered under the hood of the 2019 Jeep Gladiator. In fact, you will be offered two gas and one diesel choice. The first gas option comes with a new 2.0-liter four-cylinder Hurricane unit that delivers around 300 horsepower. The other one includes an upgraded 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 that has been expected to produce 295 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. Finally, the third version should use a 3.0-liter Eco Diesel that currently hits 240 horsepower and 420 pound-feet of torque. Each of these options should be mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission.
