The 2017 Los Angeles Auto Show has revealed numerous concepts planned for the upcoming year. One of them has been seen by BMW which made its debut not only with the well-known i8 Coupe, but also its all-electric and convertible i8 Roadster. The fans can expect significant changes and upgrades on the 2019 BMW i8, including those under the hood.
When it comes to exterior of the 2019 BMW i8, we have already mentioned that this model will be available as a coupe and a convertible named Roadster. Both will appear as attractive sports cars with plenty of upgraded and enhanced exterior features. When it comes to similarities, these two versions will get a larger kidney grille in the front. They will also keep their carbon fiber structure and the Roadster will appear heavier in weight. You can also hope for improved aerodynamics, efficiency and overall performance of both models. The Roadster will wear a retractable cloth roof that takes 16 seconds to be removed. It will be standing on 20-inch alloy wheels in two-colored design. The open top will only help to increase the speed of this model. While the Roadster will offer two seats only, the Coupe will come with rear seats as well. It will also provide the hatchback cargo space.
Inside the 2019 BMW i8, the driver will find a better-isolated and soundproof cabin in order to attain greater comfort and more pleasant ride. As we have already mentioned, the Coupe will offer the rear seats while the Roadster will provide two front seats only. Be that as it may, you can expect high-quality and some lightweight materials inside their cabins. The seats will be covered in leather and BMW will also add some new interior colors to its choice. The driver will get a sports steering wheel, a multifunctional data display in the instrument cluster as well as a floating 8.8-inch touch-screen display with the latest iDrive infotainment system. The 2019 BMW i8 will use the current 1.5-liter turbocharged inline-3 engine that delivers 228 horsepower and 236 pound-feet of torque. This engine in combination with an electric motor, a battery pack and a six-speed automatic transmission is expected to produce more than 362 horsepower and 420 pound-feet of torque. The new i8 will also increase its battery capacity to 11.6 kWh and 18 miles range. The top speed of both models will be electronically limited to 250 mph and it has been estimated that the Coupe will hit 60 mph in 4.2 seconds while the Roadster will take 4.4 seconds.
2019 BMW i8 Release Date and Price
The sale of the 2019 BMW i8 should be expected in 2018, probably in spring. The price details have not been confirmed yet, but the new i8 Roadster could starts around $150,000.
