2019 Audi A8 Hybrid is not that much interesting in term of design and equipment as in term of engine strength and new technology used in it. The reason is new engine system used there, 48-volt engine, instead of current 12-volt one in current hybrid cars. That makes a completely new line of cars, freely called mild-hybrid versions, with many new features and powertrain improvements. That means not only better performances in electric cars but maybe the best bridge between hybrid cars and popular cars from the highest class. This is also a big step for future electric cars, and surely, the most important improvement for environment protection.
The mild-hybrid engine is not the first time used in 2019 Audi A8 Hybrid. There are many manufacturers which tried it in their versions. Some of them are Honda and General Motors. Honda had it in their Integrated Motor System, while General Motors called it version eAssist system. They still could not be able to make those versions usable in a car as Audi did. Even though that sounds like a great idea, a combination of less fuel usage and gas emission was not that easy to achieve.
Using this 48-volt engine also means usage of one powerful motor generator instead of separately used starter motor and generator (or commonly called alternator). That new engine will also be in two versions, as integrated with transmission or belt-driven, which is the case with 2019 Audi A8 Hybrid. This motor is more powerful in some occasions, like in restarting the engine after the traffic light, or in moving off the line. Maybe the best thing is that this model easily restarts the engine and backs the power after emergency braking or stopping.
This will undeceive all hybrid engines opponents, mostly thanks to the fact that 48-volt engine boosts the strength of the most powerful electric engine for at least 16 horsepower and thanks to the new technology, it will have much fewer cables and switches under the hood.
2019 Audi A8 Hybrid Release Date and Price
Even though 2019 Audi A8 Hybrid will have this amazingly strong and improved engine, it will not be the only car with it. The car which also will have this mid-hybrid engine system will be one of the 7-series of Audi which we will be able to see on next Auto Show in Frankfurt in September 2017. However, the first model in 8-series will be shown on July 11 and then we will have the answers to many questions we have now.
