2018 Toyota Tundra Diesel Rumors and Speculation

Toyota is set to be the next automaker adopting the diesel technology in the full-size truck segment. This will first be seen in the 2018 Toyota Tundra Diesel, which different sources suggest will be featuring a V-8 engine, a new diesel oil-burner from Cummins.

This article is not confirmed, it's based on a rumor.
Featuring the same 5.0 liter V-8 turbo-diesel power-plant as its close rival from Nissan, this new Toyota tundra model will be representing an uncharted territory in the diesel engine cum light-duty level. Truck buyers are well-known for being a fiercely loyal bunch. So come 2018, where will their loyalty tip given that the model will be curved out by two equally-powerful automakers (Cummins on the engine and Toyota on the Truck at large)?

Exterior and Interior Changes

As it appears, the new Toyota Tundra will still retain the same body as its predecessor. But its chassis will be completely upgraded. Targeting the free-spirited truck lovers with a predilection for a more reliable vehicle that requires very little maintenance, the truck will come with an even narrower grille, bumper design and bonnet. Also included will be a couple of new fog lamps, bumper grill fascia, headlamps, and alloy wheel options. That goes without mentioning the expected new package that should come with a flat bed, chromes in large fascia parts, embossed logo as well as new tail lamps.

Engine Options

As mentioned above, the new Toyota Tundra will be powered by a new-fangled Cummins Diesel engine. The 5.0 liter V-8 turbo charged engine is expected to produce roughly 381 horsepower with a 500 lb-ft of torque to match the 6-speed auto-transmission. Toyota has also been quick to point out that they’ll be releasing a series of other fuel economy engines in the market after launching this new version of Toyota Tundra Diesel. So if the petrol engines have been burning up your wallet, the new Tundra comes is the new silver lining we’ve all been waiting for.

The 2018 Toyota Tundra Diesel is expected to sale at roughly $38,000 considering the face-lifts done. But since Toyota has promised to release different versions of the model, there’ll certainly be versions priced way above the aforementioned price as well as others cutting in, way in, from below. Toyota is yet to shed some light on the smörgåsbord of the models variations to be released thereafter. But as expected a four-wheel and two-wheel drive will definitely be among the few variations made on the model.

2018 Toyota Tundra Diesel Release date

As for the release date, nothing has been heard from the horse’s mouth. But it’s conjectured the model may be availed in the market anytime starting end-2017.
