It is time for Honda to be shown on US market, and that will happen with 2018 Honda Civic Type R. After long popularity on the European and Japanese market, the popular manufacturer has decided to attract new buyers and fans. According to Geneva Auto Show, there is a new model prepared with many details always popular in America, but with details which make this brand recognizable and attractable. According to design and powertrain, we can say that models like Volkswagen Golf R, Subaru WRX STI and Ford Focus RS should be prepared for a new competitor.
As we saw on photos made in Geneva, 2018 Honda Civic Type R should be 10th generation of the four-door hatchback version of Civic, with some details in term of design and many novelties inside of the car. The massive front end has thin gridded grille, with two large mesh air takes on bumpers sides and wide line on the bottom of the bumper. The rear side, on the other hand, has a large spoiler on the truck door, and lower, rounded end, so we assume that it will be a sports version of Civic, probably more attractive for US buyers. As great addition are aluminum parts and newly revised suspension, in order to provide lightweight and of course, better driving performances.
The inside of 2018 Honda Civic Type R is much more modern and futuristic than previous models, with attractive designed cabin and comfortable seats. The touch of luxury is provided by aluminum details and quality fabric on the seats, while the center console is precisely mounted on perfect position for driver and passengers. The most interesting for future buyers should be high-technology included in cabin equipment, like 7-inch touchscreen, navigation system, automatic climate control, 540 watt sound system with 12 speakers and for buyers should be most interesting Apple Car Play and Android Auto system as standard equipment.
Even though we are not sure in the engine which will be put in 2018 Honda Civic Type R, we are supposing that it should be 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine with 306 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. It should be paired with six-speed automatic transmission, and as a special addition comes Brembo brakes, with new parts for better stability. Test driving has still not done, but we are sure that it will show good numbers, thanks to light weight and new suspension.
