The brand new 2018 Ford Explorer is here and if it looks same to you as the outgoing model you are not alone. Ford says that it is a brand new vehicle with the old face but with minor tweaks. The front end still looks like a Range Rover but what is new is under the hood it’s a brand new 2.3 liter EcoBoost engine. The Explorer is very popular in it’s car segment and it competes with Chevy Traverse, 2019 Nissan Pathfinder and with a new 2019 Honda Pilot and still it is the best selling in that market segment.
When the car manufacturer have a popular car they don’t wanna rock the boat so the styling intensity is conservative and the changes tend to be very minimal. One of the new thing is the back of the car Ford says that they made it more aerodynamic in fact they increased fuel economy by adding things like a new rear spoiler and of course signature LED light. Ti now also have a kick open tailgate feature.
2018 Ford Explorer Interior
The interior of the new Explorer SUV is better than it’s predecessors was. If you like the interior of the old Explorer you’l feel very much at home and you will certainly like it. The center stack is cleaned up and they’ve added a better sounding Sony stereo system. But there is still some hard plastic on the dash and they added some nice touches in terms of real wood and they added more Explorer badging giving it more of an upmarket feel.
The new 2.3-Liter turbocharged EcoBoost comes in and replaces the the 2 liter EcoBoost and it brings the four wheel drive with 280 horsepower and 310 pound feet of torque. This engine will deliver 28 mpg highway but it will have more power and torque. The ford is embraced turbos very well so the offer a second turbocharged engine which is a 3.5-Liter V6 Sport which puts out 365 horsepower, this one is a rocket of the lineup. You can tow with this vehicle ut to 5000 pounds with a V6 and 290 horsepower. Acceleration from 0-60 is achieved in 6.0 seconds and top speed is 123 mph. EPA 16/22 mpg.

The price range of the new 2018 Ford Explorer starts at $31,595 for the base model and go up to $43,995 for the Platinum trim level. Main competitors are: 2019 Dodge Durango, Honda Pilot, 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe, Mazda CX-9, 2019 Toyota Highlander, 2018 Ford Flex and Buick Enclave.
