Our team has recently seen the spy photos of the new Chevrolet Camaro Z28 being tested in Nurburgring. It seems that this prototype of the sixth generation Camaro gives us the hint that we should expect it to hit the showrooms as a 2018 model.
As we have already mentioned in the intro, we have got the chance to see the camouflaged prototype of the new 2018 Chevrolet Camaro Z28, but that has not stopped us from getting the clue about what this model will look like. We can simply say that it will be a real racing beast, ready to hit the tracks. Chevrolet has definitely improved the aerodynamics this time. It is also expected that this model will get a lighter chassis, which will bring numerous benefits. When it comes to exterior of the new Z28, we have noticed that the front fascia appears quite aggressive. The lower grille is definitely larger than the ones seen on the previous Camaro models as well as the front splitter. The headlights seem bigger and redesigned and down below you will notice two air intakes. Looking at the side profile, we could not but notice massive fenders, large wheels and wide tires. The new Camaro Z28 will probably be standing on the front 19-inch wheels and the 20-inch wheels in the back, but this information has not been confirmed. The first thing that catches your attention in the back of this vehicle is definitely a big and adjustable rear wing.
The spy photos that we have got simply could not give away too many details about the interior of the 2018 Chevrolet Camaro Z28. However, we believe that the cabin will be based on the 5th generation Z28 and some other next-generation prominent racers. It will use high-quality materials, including those lightweight like carbon fiber. You will probably get Recaro bucket seats and perhaps sports pedals and an adjustable, multifunctional steering-wheel. There is no information about the updated hi-tech features, but you should hope for My Link infotainment system. The new Camaro Z28 will also include the necessary safety systems and driver assist features.
The engine of the 2018 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 has probably been the greatest mystery, but it definitely sounds like a V8. The current model came with a 7.0-liter V8 which was able to deliver 505 horsepower. However, we expect that the new Z28 will get a more powerful engine such as 6.2-liter supercharged V8 found in Camaro ZL1. Such an engine could hit 650 horsepower. When it comes to transmission, it will probably be mated to a six-speed manual as standard and an optional ten-speed automatic.
2018 Chevrolet Camaro Z28
The 2018 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 most likely should not be expected before the next year, but the release date has not been confirmed yet. It will, however, be more expensive than its predecessor so you should expect a price range of $75,000-$78,000 before options.
